The research and development results of SPAS will be:

The platform will make possible the confluence of research efforts and technology transfer, increasing the SMEs technology level, as well as easing the carrying out of new technological ideas for the future sector.

The potential impacts of the project are given by:

  • Cooperation will allow to obtain synergies and to contribute to the technology excellence maintain, as a key factor of positioning and business competitiveness.

  • Additional impact will be obtained by members work using the experience obtained in previous international projects (i.e. CAFE and BASAN thematic networks).

  • To obtain an increased accessibility to the FP6 and FP7 action lines by means of the obtained "critical mass", as well as an increased easiness to collaborate with foreign partners.

  • To gather together the SMEs technology needs, making them aware of the market and technology trends (i.e. functional food).

  • Creation of SMEs working groups with similar innovation needs.

  • To enhance the entities competitiveness, through the information dissemination and the improvement of the technological state of the art.

  • To take advantage of the cooperation culture and trust built within SPAS working groups for future common cooperation activities, i.e. encouraging the SMEs to go into further commercial cooperation (new markets,export agreements, etc.)
